Take a peek at the New Look G . E . M   R O O M❣️
There have been some exciting changes to the Chill-In Room this year with new spaces for the students to play and relax in, as well as a new name!
💠 The G.E.M Room 💠
Each of these spaces are a reflection of The Resilience Project and other positive education principles that supports students wellbeing.
Open at 2nd Break Lunchtimes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s at Walkerston State School.
It has been a few years in the making ☺️ so a HUGE Thanks goes to everyone that has made this possible for our students over the years through direct support, and donations.
Over the past few weeks including last term, students have been able to enjoy the supervision of some teachers in the G.E.M Room where I have been away, or on other days that I am not at school.
Huge Thanks to those teachers who opened the room, the kids really appreciated it and loved it so much that they told me all about it!
Chappy Conversations
Also, Chaplain conversations have been my main focus this year in supporting parents and students for a variety of reasons and that's what Chaplaincy is here for. Not just to talk to students, but also being here to talk to parents needing support too.
Statistically, the Top 5 issues students talk to chaplains about are:
  1. Friendship and Peer Issues - I have a NEW Friendship Program coming soon, and the Real Me Program is in my plans for Semester 2 too.
  2. Bullying/Harrassment
  3. School Behaviour
  4. Mental Health - anxiety and depression (These are often referred onto our wonderful Guidance Officer, Mr Jeff Poots as required).
  5. Family breakdown/ parental separation - which, we have a student program that we run called Seasons for Growth that supports students through these changes that happen in their family.
If you, or you would like your child to talk with Chappy, please contact the admin staff Walkerston State School.
